How Back Auto Moteurs works, in plain English

Between the untested dismantler and the unaffordable new engine, there is a third option. What our four-test protocol actually verifies, what the warranty covers, and how a quote becomes a delivery in 27 European countries.

Between the untested dismantler and the unaffordable new engine

If your engine has reached the end of its life — or your customer's has — buying a reconditioned unit is almost always cheaper, faster, and more sustainable than the alternatives. A new engine costs a fortune to manufacture, in money and in CO₂. A used engine bought from a dismantler without testing is a coin flip you'll usually lose. Back Auto Moteurs sits between the two: every engine we ship has passed four documented tests, carries a ten-month warranty, and arrives with a signed report your fitter can read before bolt-up.

Why we don't publish a stock list

Our catalogue covers the most common diesel and petrol engines from the past fifteen years of European motoring — Volkswagen 2.0 TDI, BMW N57, Mercedes OM651, Peugeot HDi, Renault dCi, the families that account for most of what's still on the road. We don't publish a stock list because availability changes daily; instead, you send your registration plate or VIN, we check our network, and we come back with a firm quote in under two business hours. No payment is required at the quote stage. No commitment is implied.

The four-test protocol, in detail

Our four-test protocol is the heart of what we do. A compression test measures the pressure each cylinder generates and rejects any engine showing more than eight percent variance between cylinders. A leak-down test pressurises the cylinder and identifies leaks past valves, rings, or head gasket — where compression stays silent, leak-down speaks. An endoscope camera walks every chamber and port, recording HD video of cylinder walls and piston crowns. An oil analysis at a partner lab reads the engine's metallurgical signature in parts per million; iron above 180 ppm sends the engine back for full inspection. Engines that fail any of these tests are stripped for parts or recycled. None is resold "as new" without proof.

Pan-European delivery, all-in pricing

We deliver to twenty-seven European countries on a strapped wooden pallet, fully insured, tracked from workshop to your door. The price you see in the quote includes the engine, the tests, the packaging, and the delivery — there are no charges added at order, no surcharges after dispatch. Garages and workshops use the same request as private buyers: submit your plate or VIN, choose company in step two when you need a VAT invoice, and you hear back from the same team on quotes, dispatch, and after-sales. We answer in English, French, German, and Lithuanian, Monday to Saturday, on phone, email, and WhatsApp.

Warranty and after-sales, in plain English

Behind every engine is a documented file: the donor vehicle reference, the four-test report, the dispatch checklist, and the warranty certificate with serial number and start date. If a problem appears after fitting, our after-sales team opens a dossier inside forty-eight business hours and resolves the majority of cases remotely with your fitter. When a return is required, we organise the pickup at our cost. The warranty covers internal mechanical defects of the engine — block, cylinder head, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, valves, original gaskets — for ten months from first start-up, on the condition that fitting is done by a qualified professional. The terms are written in plain English and read in five minutes. We don't bury the conditions; we explain them.
